End of School Party 2012

Last July, the 7th and 8th graders at my little, private school all got together to say out last goodbyes before we all spit and go to high school {at least for the 8th graders}.
This night consisted of football, sardines, and ghost in the graveyard. And of course, food.

One of the things we did was burn some of our old school papers and workbooks. This was one of the first outings I had with my 50mm, so I was still getting used to it. Overall, I really enjoyed being able to spend some time with my friends and just hang out.

My Life Story | A Challenge

   8. Pass 8th Grade

Eight years ago, I moved from my hometown in Nebraska to where I am now. I was about six when I moved, just getting out of half-day Kindergarten. My family packed our bags and then it was time. It was time to say goodbye to my one and only best friend. I had to say goodbye to my family that also lived there. I had to say goodbye to my home and all of the memories I made there.
When I arrived in Minnesota, we were unable to move into our house, it wasn't time yet. School was starting though. So what do we do? We stayed at my cousins' house for about a month or so. They were so generous to us and I was so blessed to go to school with them, with a dad as a principal.
Eventually we settled in our own little home. We had some friends help renovate a room for my brothers; and everything was set. The next four years were alike, yet so different. I went to the same school, with the same principal, with the same classes. Teachers came and left, but one thing remained. No matter who was teaching, the Word of God was always being shared.
Entering 5th grade {the start of middle school there}, I didn't know exactly what to expect. Middle school was a whole new world to me (even though it was just downstairs). I had a locker... two to be exact. I had to change classrooms and teachers. I now had a gym uniform to change into. Everything was different. Sidenote: Fifth grade was one of the best years of my life (so far)... it was also one of the hardest. Yeah we got a lot of homework, but then was the time when I was figuring out who I was and who I wanted to hang out with. It was not an easy time. In fact, I lost a good reputation for a little while. On top of all of that, my favorite two teachers told my class they were leaving to do mission work half way around the world (now that are pregnant with twins!). They were the best teachers I ever had.
Time moved on and I grew older. I had the same teacher for 6th and 7th grade. Those two years were great, but nothing super dramatic and exciting happened.
Eighth grade had finally come. I had one of the most stressful, but most fun years of my life. I grew as a person, and I grew more than ever in my faith. I received a higher learning than ever before. I experienced new things and places. I became more me, and a little less everyone else. I had a blast. When graduation and the last day of school came, I had mixed feelings. I've been with the same 9 people for years. I'd miss them like crazy, but it is/was the time to move on.
Entering into high school in the fall will be a huge change for me. I'll have to meet new teachers, the new principal, a new {huge} school, and a new group of friends. Think back to the beginning of this story... sound familiar? I'll be entering into a public school for the first time. This summer, I'm determined to prepare myself as much as possible. I'll strengthen my relationship with Christ and I'll prepare myself spiritually, mentally, socially, emotionally, financially, and physically. I'm ready to leave my little private school and start ministering to others. My challenge is to share my faith in Jesus Christ to a few people by this time next year. I not exactly sure what to call it, but what about Jesus Christ Virus?!? Let me know your thoughts!

Will you take the challenge with me?

P.S. All of these pictures {except the first} are from my eighth grade graduation.

One Spanish Day...

... We had a party. Indeed we had a party because it was the Spanish Independence day. :-) So we got to celebrate! On this lovely party day, someone brought REALLY spicy homemade salsa. (It was a Spanish party, remember?) There were only a few people that dare to try this salsa. I did not wish to try it because I'm not a Mexican food kind of person. Then, one boy in my class, I call him Aaron, thought it would be fun to try a whole chip full of this spicy salsa. Let my {horrible} pictures show you what happened! :P

^The only good picture. "Am I really going to do this? What did I get myself into?"
 CRUNCH!
I am appalled by these pictures, but I couldn't think of a good post. So, here ya go. Nothing happening.. yet.
"I did it! And it isn't spicy!"
"Oh no, oh no, oh no!!... AH!"
Yeah. By the end of this picture, he was out the door and by the drinking fountain. He ended up getting a milk carton to wash it all down. :D

I hope you laughed today!

Sophia|Teenage session

One recess, I decided I really wanted to take pictures of my friend. So, therefor I did! Here are the pictures of my friend Sophia.

I didn't exactly tell her I wanted to take her pictures, but you know, she loved it!
I'm personally not a big fan of ^this picture, but she liked it so, you know, that's a compliment and I love getting compliments!
I got a lot of good pictures, so be warned.
 ^My favorite of the session!
Do you see her earrings? Yeah, I made them! She is the only person that really likes my earrings and buys them.
When we first were taking photos in ^this spot, we didn't know that there were ticks. The *principal* (because we were at school) said that we shouldn't go there because there are ticks. *aka, my dad.
^Thanks to Belle at livineachday4him.blogspot.com I was able to get this picture to look really cool from a technique she taught me.

 What a pretty girl!

I have BIG news! I am having my first real session coming up. We are planning it and everything! I am going to be taking pictures of a baby girl, also named Sophia. I am SO excited and I will definitely be sharing pictures! :D

Have a blessed Tuesday everyone!

New Start, New {school} Year

Well, today was my first day of school. Wow, 8th grade already? I'm really excited for high school, but I love being in the Christian environment of my school. I'm convincing myself that this is going to be the best school year.

There's something about school that is just fascinating. I don't know if it's the fact that I go to a Christian school, or the fact that my teachers have known me for 5+ years, or just the friendly environment. I think it's good for me to be back in school. No more, "I'm bored" moments.

Now that school has started, I'm going to be really busy. I'm going to be posted at much as I can, but I want you to know that I'll be busy. I have school, volleyball, piano, and then homework (not in that order, of course). I do have a few posts that I'll have from Labor Day Weekend. I took a lot of pictures! And I think a bunch of them turned out really well, so I'm really excited to start editing them! :-)

When did you start school? Are you homeschooled? Go to a public school? Private school?

I hope all of you have a fantastic year serving the Lord!

Miscellaneous Ramblings

1) Babysitting

<That girl is SO cute! That picture was taken the day after her 4th (?) birthday.  I've been babysitting a lot lately before school starts. One family has me come a few times a week in the morning, which I absolutely love! I mean, babysitting is SO fun! And, it's a good job to get money toward a new camera.

2) August skies

The sky is August is always SO pretty! So many vivid colors. This is a daily thing, it's always pretty.

  3) Swimming

<That picture was taken at my neighbors new pool! I babysit for they're three kids all the time and I was SO excited to swim in they're pool because seriously, it is amazing!

 4) Lovely flowers

A lot of flowers are blooming at my house right now. This flower is one of them. I honestly love this picture! I love the edit, the flower, the bokeh, the crop, everything!

  5) Random pictures of my towel

I got bored on the way home from Wisconsin Dells, so I ended up taking a lot of random pictures of my towel. :P

  6) Summer umbrellas

This picture was also taken at the Wisconsin Dells, but I think it could apply for anywhere/anyone. If you didn't already notice, I miss that place. Now I'm stuck at home doing hardly nothing.

 7) Doing things I really shouldn't do...

Long story short: our teacher said, "I don't care what you do with your workbook... You can throw it away, recycle it, burn it, whatever." So I burned it.

Disclaimer: I had adult supervision.

 8) My school's ice cream social

Every year my school has an ice cream social where students and their families go to this one park, play, and eat ice cream! :-) Nothing like free ice cream, right?

  9) I didn't do it!

It's a LONG story....

 10) Denim

That picture is of a pair of jean shorts that I wear all. the. time. They are very comfortable and I really shouldn't wear them to school, even though I have. :D
