Bye-Bye

Well, today I started my journey back home from Colorado. We made it to Nebraska and we're staying the night here. Tomorrow I'm back in Minnesota. It was fun to get away from home and work, but it's time to be home. The comfort of my home relaxes me like no other place. When I get home, everything will be hectic again, but that's my life. My life is just full of business and chaos. I just have to say my last good-bye's to everyone and everything.

Good-bye Megan. (Megan is my friend from Nebraska. We've been friends ever since I was born!)
 Good-bye Colorado Mountains. Good-by Colorado.
Good-bye condo that we stayed at. I loved walking down your hallways and spending time in your arcade, pool, and lobby.
Good-bye Nebraska. (sorry for the glare!)
Good-bye long hikes. Good-bye family.

Hello older brothers. Hello Minnesota.

Happy 4th of July {a couple days late}

Hey everybody! I hope you have been enjoying some guest posts! I just have to say thank you to Rachel and Francesca. They were both awesome posts!

First off, Happy 4th of July! I hope you all had a great day! I didn't do much that day, but it was sure a day I wouldn't forget...

On the 4th of July, my younger brother, parents, my aunt, and I went to a firework show. We left REALLY early, but that's what we were told to do! So we were there at like 6:00 PM or so. The show started at 9:45 (actually, 10:00). So we had nothing to do for those 3+ hours! My dad, brother, and I went to some stores right around the lake where they were setting the fireworks off. We had some very yummy ice cream! (random, I know) The bad thing was, it rained and stormed off and on while we were waiting. Luckily, it didn't rain when the fireworks were going off.
Coming from the "4th of July City of America", this firework show was really good! The "4th of July City of America" is Seward, Nebraska, where I was born. I thought this firework show was going to be wimpy compared to Seward's firework shows! IT WAS NOT!! This firework show was really good! And there wasn't just one firework show going on. We were there for one, but there were many. There was a group of people that were at the lake at 7:00 AM. They got really good seats. They lite off a lot of cool fireworks before the show. There was another group of people that lived close by that lite a lot of fireworks before and during the show as well. When the main firework show was switching barges (there were two full of fireworks), there was some other huge firework show going on at the same time! No kidding! We were looking at all 4 of these firework shows! It was a crazy night! It took us like 30 minutes just to get out of the parking lot. :( not very fun! It was also crazy because the guys we sat by... never mind. They were just crazy boys.
Here's a quick little story before I "leave". There was a little, tiny boat that was on the lake for hours just going around doing whatever. My family noticed that there was a weird looking thing on the back of the boat, but it was a little too dark to see what it was. In the middle of the other firework shows, the boat was 10 ft. or less in front of us, and started lighting TONS of fireworks right above our heads! It was kind of scary, but for this little boat, there were a lot of fireworks!

I hope you had a very good 4th of July! How was it? Was it as crazy as my firework show?

Bible verse of the week #11

As I am anticipating church camp, I remember this Bible verse. "Why?" you may ask.? Because every year there is a song based off of this Bible verse and I can never get the song out of my head because I love it so much!

This is the song I was talking about... our version is modified a little bit though. We add lots of actions and the melody is more pumped up.

Not only is that an amazing song, I also love other songs based off of the same Bible verse. I really love how songs speak to me. You give me a situation, I give you a song. It's just how my mind is. Here is another song about Matthew 22:37.

I'm sure you've heard of that one more than the other one I showed you. This one is on the radio a lot.
Now to talk about this Bible verse. God wants us to put Him first in our lives; before all other things. We need to surrender our life all for Him. Give EVERYTHING we have to Him, because He cares for us. He will protect us. He will guide us. We have nothing to worry about because God is there for us every step of the way. God has been speaking to me about this lately. I need to just give Him everything, and He will give me everything I need. Here's an example: I'm in my room, trying to find an important paper for school. I can't find it anywhere in the house and this is the last place it would be. I'm almost in tears because I can't find it. Finally, I prayed to God about helping me find it. What do ya know? I found it in the next minute. I should've prayed about it in the first place. You see, God loves answering our prayers. He loves us. Think about it, He is the King of the universe, and He loves you more than anything. Isn't that a comforting thought?

Tips on Photography; A Guest Post By Francesca

hi everyone!! my name is francesca, and i blog over at sunshine + moonlight! today while Madie is on vacation, i am guest posting for her, and i decided to do a tutorial type thing. so first i'll start off with a little bit about me!

my name is francesca. i am 12 1/2  years old. some of my favorite things are, art, math (weird i know), photography, blog design, and many more things that you will soon find out by reading my blog.
as you may have figured out from the button for my blog, i LOVE shoes! who doesn't?!?! i just can't get enough of them! so as you may have figured out i will be in 7th grade in september!! some words that describe me are artsy, active, funny, friendly, sarcastic, and silly. some of my friends call me frank or frankie (don't ask) but then others call me frannie (which i prefer but oh well). i have a love for american girl dolls, which you can read about on this blog: The Girls of Crestview Lanei live in the state of New York, i am and only child, and i've lived in the same house my whole life. i hope that gives you a little taste of me!

ok so now for the tutorial! i am going to give you guys 5 photography tips that i try to use when i am capturing pictures!!

1. Try out different settings on your camera!
you may have a preference or a favorite setting on your camera, but sometimes change it up and make your pictures look different! it tells people that you are creative and artistic with your pictures, and its fun to experiment too!

my absolute favorite setting is Macro! i have to admit i usually use that all the time!

2. Use different angles while taking pictures!
if you are taking pictures of something big, for example a tree. you don't want to center the tree in your picture because then it doesn't give the picture any detail. you want to take a picture of a couple branches with a nice background like the sky!

3. Take pictures of different things!
most photographers have something that they really enjoy taking pictures of, so they photograph those things the most! but, sometimes its good to take pictures of something you don't really like, or don't photograph often because then you can get better at photographing all different things!

i'm not quite sure why i love this picture. i think it reminds me of my childhood!

4. Use the sun to your advantage!
most people tell you to have the sun behind you, but I am telling you do it both ways!! when you take pictures facing towards the sun, you get really different looks of the picture than when you were facing away from the sun. sometimes you can even take pictures OF the sun!

it can also help people who like to draw, because you see where the sun makes pictures lighter on one side and darker on the other!

5. Always be creative while taking pictures!
take pictures from different angles, on different settings, and use the sun! here is one of my recent pictures that has to be one of my favorites!

so I will leave you with that! i hope you all enjoyed this post! soon Madie will be posting on my blog while I'm on vacation, so be on the lookout! and please feel free to check out my blog!!
thanks so much for letting me post Madie!

Road Tripping Part I

On Friday afternoon I started my trip to Colorado. We started our trip by driving 7 hours to Nebraska. We stayed the night at my grandparents' house. On Saturday we visiting other family and friends. I love going to Nebraska because to me, this is home. This is where I grew up. I made my first friends here and there are so many good memories here in Nebraska. Even before we left, I had to pack, obviously. :-) My suitcase is/was overflowing!! I can't fit everything in it. haha! I'm just that skilled! I'm now sitting in the lobby of my grandparents condo. I've been watching movies in the car because it took more than 10 hours from Nebraska to Colorado. My ears popped a lot, but I was fine. Sorry I haven't posted in about a week. I've been REALLY busy! I'm trying to get pictureson here... but the computer is SO slow. I've been trying to get some on here for a couple hours straight... plus days before now.

That's how full my suitcase was. I have yet another small bag. :-)

A prevew of the mountains... WAY more to come!!

This is a view from ur porch/balcony. I can't say this enough, but there are more pictures from the condo coming.
